The Accident Reconstruction Technician intervenes in serious accident cases in which there is the need to reconstruct the dynamics and kinematics of the accident in order to ascertain the terms of occurrence, the behaviours and the liabilities of the parties involved.
The most common cases are those that result in serious and/or fatal injuries for the persons involved, material damage to third parties, in general, disputes not solved by mutual agreement of the parties.
According to the sphere in which he performs his activity, the Accident Reconstruction Technician can take different roles and denominations.
Judicial phase :
Technical Consultant for the Prosecution: is appointed by the Public Prosecutor in the course of preliminary investigations if there is the need to take penal action against one of the parties (in case of death and/or injuries of the persons involved).
Expert Witness for the Judge: is appointed by the Judge in a penal trial.
Technical consultant for the parties: is appointed by the parties who, in trials (both civil and penal) can avail themselves of the aid of an Expert Technician. He takes part, together with the expert witness appointed by the judge, in carrying out the technical surveys needed to reconstruct the event.
